Getting to CasaCone
CasaCone is located in the town of La Ventana, BCS. It's about a 2.5 hour drive northeast of Cabo San Lucas and about 45 minutes south of La Paz. We are opposite the ChiloChil Resort on South Beach which you can enter into google maps for directions. Specifically, if you were to walk out the entrance of the ChilloChill resort and keep walking straight, you would walk up our driveway, at the end of the driveway turn left. The address for visa purposes is: Calle Tuna s/n La Ventana, Baja California Sur Mexico 23232
*Get Pesos at the Airport ATM on arrival, its often the case that the ATM's in La Ventana are not working
Airports: Cabo San Lucas Airport (SJD) typically has more flights, but La Paz Airport (LAP) is closer. Getting from the Airport to La Ventana requires either renting a car or taking a taxi.
Taxi: Pre-arrange a taxi ride to La Ventana from those listed below. The latest quote is $100 from Cabo but can be about $40 if a shared taxi is arranged, and $40 from La Paz. Its expensive ($170 if you simply get a taxi at Cabo airport without pre-arranging)
Rent-a-Car: Caution, there is an insurance scam at most car rental agencies, they require their insurance which can be as much as the car rental. Word has it Cactus Car Rental in Cabo and La Paz doesn't charge additional insurance.
Driving: Note it is HIGHLY discouraged from driving the BCS at night time. There are many accidents due to livestock appearing on the roads. If arriving Cabo at night, you will want to spend the night and drive to La Ventana during the day. There are two routes from Cabo. The West road is a bit quicker, but the East route is more scenic.
Driving from the USA: If you are driving from the US, it's a gorgeous ride. Takes 2-3 days. We recommend crossing at the Calexico Border early in the morning, and driving to San Ignacio. There is a great place to stay in San Ignacio called Ignacio Springs Resort. If you are in a van or camping, there is a wonderful bay to stop between San Ignacio and La Ventana about one mile north of this resort. Be sure to stop fully at all stop signs, don't drive at night, and be sure to get gas when you can, there are large stretches without gas stations. Another tip is keep only 500 pesos in your wallet in case you do get pulled over by the police, you can offer "all you have" to pay their bribe/fine. Its a custom ;-)
